Creativity

The use of imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness

with OCRP Gaming role play is you have the ability to have freedom, creativity, within your tier. With this workshop session I encourage you to think outside the box of your normal role play. We will be focusing on many types of role play that does not include shoot up Leo officers, speeding and or cops and robbers.

You can have many types of role play that don't include having law enforcement Involved. You can even be the only one on the server and be able to role play, your character in ways that enhance his/her life. When you play a character and you play them as if they are real people in a real world things open up into a new dimension. For example, I spent 2 hours getting 1 of my characters money with his new CDL. I would go to the docks and pick up trailers and drop them off at the stores. It is little things like this that if you master can change the way you role play.

Just because you don't have to kill off your character does not mean he/she is fearless. If one of my characters had a gun pointed at him, he is not going to try to take the gun and super Sparta kick the man/women in the face. He is going to try to get the guy to calm down and try to live. Or plan B, he will turn into a cry baby and give up everything he has. When you’re starting a new character it is good to write out his/her backstory fears and likes.

Creating a good backstory for your character can be as simple or as complex as you want. You first need to ask yourself; what is my character’s motivation, what do they do (occupation), where did he/she come from, what is their attitude? This is a simple method of making a backstory. A more complex method involves telling a story of that characters life up to the present day. The story alone will cover all of the simple questions, and add more depth to the character as a whole. A simple one off character created in the spur of the moment to fill a role in a one off scene could evolve into much more, or could be the event in that characters life that changes them into something other than a regular boring blue collar worker grinding their way through life.

If they have any medical conditions make sure you play them out, for example, if you have Asthma you are not going to run 6 miles before you have a major Asthma attack. You are going down in 2 mins or less cause you can’t breath, and scared for your life. If you do this and it ends up a medical call make sure you know the info that you are going to need. For example, Asthma will have,

  • Shortness of breath

  • Chest tightness or pain

  • Trouble sleeping caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing

  • A whistling or wheezing sound when exhaling (wheezing is a common sign of asthma in children)

  • Coughing or wheezing attacks that are worsened by a respiratory virus, such as a cold or the flu.

And Flair ups will be Caused by

  • Exercise-induced asthma, which may be worse when the air is cold and dry

  • Occupational asthma, triggered by workplace irritants such as chemical fumes, gases or dust

  • Allergy-induced asthma, triggered by airborne substances, such as pollen, mold spores, cockroach waste or particles of skin and dried saliva shed by pets (pet dander)

So you are walking down the road and all of a sudden “FREEZE!”

That is a scare that will cause your heart rate to rocket and breathing to increase.

An example of exercise-induced asthma would be, you’re taking a jog or doing karate after sitting for years, and suddenly you are experiencing shortness of breath, and possibly on the verge of passing out. In the end the result is the same wheezing short of breath, tight chest and maybe passing out.

The best thing you can do is when you think of something that would be fun in your tier level or not, add it to a list. This will allow you to come back to it when you are able to play it out. There are 1000’s of ways that you can come up with Ideas for your list. Some things that I have done are watch 911 Style shows because watching some hilljack get tazed is just great on all ends. But when you find out he was running because he thought it was a good Idea to Light dog crap on a porch. TADA Im going to aggravate another member’s character because I’m going to be burning dog crap on his porch this week. Ding added it to the list.

Another is to look on Youtube at other players that post and ReVamp what they did, not copy it but, so that it is fun for you. Some great places to find things to do is on Discord of youtubers. Some have a Rp Suggestion area. I have taken many ideas from a sort of role play discord’s. They are a great way to gather Ideas. A little rewording and Mr. Tan is your uncle and you are driving a taxi around town, or per your tier level driving around commiting your own style of crimes. This gives the Detectives something to try to figure out.

Again make sure you follow the rules and leave them some evidence. The car is wiped down and burned but the casing you left on the ground has a partial print and now they have a lead. It may lead to a dead end but it is something they can start with.

Don't be afraid to think outside the box as well or have something that is quick like a Dispute cause your Old neighbor is shooting fireworks off and is running over your friends parked car.

Ok, time for some creative exercises. I will post a Google Doc link in the chat, you all will be able to edit this. So don't mess it up. When the link hits I want you to work as a team and for 5 minutes get as much on paper as you can. Don't stop until you drop.

At this time I want you to send me a DM in TS with 5 Ideas in ******* Topic off the top of your head. Once you start typing you can not stop. You will have five minutes.

At this time we are going to pull some of these and you will have a few minutes to plan the role play then you will have to play it out. Make sure you follow your characters nature, demeanor, and backstory make it flow. If you are a shy person then role play it out.

Remember to be creative and think outside of the box, you can have fun with almost nothing.

At this time we will practice a little impromptu role play. I will take a few people to show off what we can do and how this can bring a new fun creative challenge.

We will take turns and Build off each other.

These are some helpful resources you can use to add more to your role play experience. Feel free to browse the Civilian Business SOP’s, there are many business in OCRP that you can become part of by just asking the owner if you can join. They have roles for all tiers in both legitimate and criminal organizations.
